Adult Learners Are Busy

While young learners are usually present by requirement not choice, adult learners aren’t, and they are very busy.

They have many personal and professional responsibilities and concerns. Don’t waste their time by presenting irrelevant information or making the presentation longer than it was intended.

Leave time in your presentation to answer questions, but if you notice that there is a lot commentary on one particular area and it’s going to impact your ability to stick to schedule, move on to the next area of discussion. Schedule enough time after the presentation to hold one-on-one conversations with learners who have questions or want to know more.

Also, start on time. Five minutes before the presentation, announce that you are about to get started so participants can settle in their seats and be ready to begin on time.
