Localizing Presentation

Another way to customize the presentation is to localize it. This means adding local information relevant to the subject matter. You’re more likely to engage your audience if they can personally relate to the information and know how it impacts their school and community.

Before giving the presentation, talk to school administrators, counselors, parents…even the local police. Do some research online or at the local library to find local news stories relevant to the subject matter. You can even look for public documents to find relevant examples.

For example, have there been recent drug convictions, arrests, or even fatalities related to drugs? Have any of them involved teens in your region?
