During your presentation, you may encounter one or even more “over-involved” learners: learners who always have questions or want to comment throughout the presentation. Not only is this disruptive, but it prevents other participants from providing input to the conversation.
As the presenter, you are in control of the audience, and if you have a person like this in your presentation, you can avoid more disruption by asking other audience members for answers.
If the person continues to be disruptive, you can ask him or her to write down the question. Say you’ll answer it if time permits at the end of the presentation or you’ll contact him or her with an answer. You could also suggest that the person stay after the presentation, when you’ll have more time to answer his or her questions.
As with all of your participants, it’s important to treat this person with respect and to avoid using a negative tone. Stay calm, remain firm, and quickly move on to the next topic so your presentation stays on track.
