Personalizing Presentation

Before the presentation, also spend some time making it relevant to the audience you’re presenting to. To do this, you personalize and localize it.

Personalizing a presentation helps create a sense of rapport and makes your presentation flow more naturally. The presentations have been developed so that you can easily pick them up and, with a bit of practice, present them to your audience. That does not mean that you should read the speakers notes word for word. Doing this tends to create a monotonous tone that could easily cause your audience to stop paying attention and think about other things while you’re talking.

To prevent this, make the language yours. Use the speaker notes as a guide, but add your own transitions. Be careful not to stray from or change the meaning of teaching points.

Another way to personalize the presentation and engage your audience is to add personal or professional experiences that relate to the content. This gives you a sense of credibility and helps the audience think of you more as a person instead of a presenter.
